Which automation roles pay best in the Gulf?
Functional safety, DCS and commissioning specialists sit at the top, because each combines scarcity with direct financial risk if done badly. Oil, gas and EPC pay above other sectors at every level. The figures below are indicative monthly ranges drawn from publicly advertised roles and vary widely by employer, nationality mix and package structure.

- Get on site. Commissioning experience is the single most valued line on a Gulf automation CV.
- Add safety. Functional safety knowledge is scarce and directly monetisable.
- Learn a DCS, not only PLCs, if you want process industry.
- Pick up OT security. It is the fastest-growing adjacent skill.
