Which route in is easiest for a newcomer?
Systems integrators and vendor partners, not the asset owners. End users like ADNOC and DEWA generally recruit experienced engineers, while SIs and EPC contractors take people earlier and expose them to more variety in a shorter time. Two years at an integrator is often the fastest path to an operator role.

- Industrial networking — PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus
- Safety awareness — especially for process and nuclear work
- Commissioning exposure — anything showing you have been on site
